Adrian Mole

I think we all remember the Secret Diaries of Adrian Mole aged 13 3/4. I've just come across the sequels and love them. In the "Adrian Mole - Cappuccino Years" Adrian is 30 years old, divorced, father of a son, celebrity chef, labour voter and still in love with Pandora. He is very idealistic and full of ideas and hopes about his life, but he just can't work it out. I think the book is funny, witty and Adrian is a bit pittyful as well to be honest.
The last book in the series is called "Adrian Mole and the weapons of mass destruction". Adrian now is 35, a Labour suporter, bookseller, loft owner, father of two sons and still a bit of a looser. Have a go!

There is another book I would like to recommend: "Gebrauchsanweisung London" by Ronald Reng. Written in German it describes London and its people packed in fantastic stories. I do agree with him 100% and would sign every single chapter. :)

Elizabeth - The Golden Age

On Dec 21st "Elizabeth - The Golden Age" opens in our cinemas. As a sequel of "Elizabeth", the film portrays the later years of Queen Elizabeth I - once again played by Cate Blanchet. Allthough lacking of historical accuracy the film will surely be an abundant feast for the eyes.

Lily Allen - Kate Nash

Kate and Lily are both singer songwriters, born and bred in London. They do convince with a funky mixture of music styles and their London accents. Both are huge in the British music scene but little known here. Check out their websites and make your own verdict.

Watching the English

At the moment I am reading "Watching the English" by Kate Fox. The author writes about the behavour and behavour rules of the English, which are happening unconsciously most of the time. Kate Fox examens the lingo, pubs behavour, gardening, classes etc. It is very informative and above all, when beeing in the country, I do sometimes find myself following the rules uncosciously too.
